little cayman here i come!
after working so hard for the past few months it feels so good to be on the way to another dive adventure. a little reward to myself. dunno what's going to happen when i return - don't have any specific work lined up - but everything always seems to works out. work, taxes, commuting, the grind... for the next week i don't have to think about any of it. epic.
the flight out here to miami was typical - crammed like sardines into the plane. no meal, no snacks, no movie... totally bare bones (and still the airlines are going broke - go figure). good thing i was so exhausted from all the work i've been doing. i slept like the dead the whole way. as soon as we got to the cayman airways ticket counter in miami we immediately hit island time. took over an hour just to check in. and there were 4 people checking people in maybe 50 passengers. unreal.
anyhow, fly and hour into grand cayman... wait a few hours then another 30 minute flight into little cayman's dirt landing strip "airport"... 10 minute drive past the downtown area that contains 5 businesses - one of which is a bank that's open on only on monday and thursday - and here i am. middle of deserted carib paradise. the rooms are basic but comfortable, the foo is great and the bar has rum. just give me some memorable diving and we have us a good vacation.
apparently everyfriday night here is the weekly karaoke/pub crawl night... they start at one place then come here til 11pm then head up the beach to the next place until it closes at 1. me? after all that travelling and rum... its 10pm... gotta save my energy for diving tomorrow.
